Art of Purposeful Negotiation by Mr. John Lag
The Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell (ADRC) at NLIU, Bhopal is committed to the approach of resolving issues and disputes with the help of ADR mechanisms such as negotiation and mediation. To foster the spirit of ADR in the minds of aspiring lawyers, ADRC organized a credit course for its student community. The course was conducted by Mr. John J. Lag who provided valuable insights on the topic ‘Art of Purposeful Negotiation’. The credit course focused on how to make the most of a negotiation session. It provided the participating students with an opportunity to enhance their negotiation and mediation skills by enacting real-life scenarios as an interactive activity during the classes.
In wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the course was conducted via Zoom, with the participation of 50 students. It began on 14th January 2021 and lasted for 5 weeks.
Mr. John J. Lag, one of the most esteemed legal luminaries, is a Director at the International Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR) and has immense knowledge and experience in the field of negotiation and mediation. Additionally, he is a practising attorney with a diverse legal acumen that spreads across civil and criminal trials, jury trials, mediation, arbitration, and administrative law, and is also a Professor of law and a lecturer at various prestigious Universities.
ADRC was honoured to have Mr. John conduct the credit course classes and impart valuable knowledge on negotiation to our fellow students.
Credit course on ‘ International Mediation and Negotiation’ by Dr. Kimberly Schreiber & Mr. David Adams
To inculcate the spirit of ADR in the student community and make it more comprehensible, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell at NLIU, Bhopal organized a credit course in November 2020 titled ‘International Mediation and Negotiation’. It was conducted by Dr. Kimberly Schreiber and Mr. David Adams. The course witnessed participation by over 40 students and was conducted via Zoom due to the pandemic. It was instrumental in providing a comprehensive understanding of different ADR mechanisms and a deeper understanding of the nuances of mediation and negotiation. The credit course classes were made highly interactive through presentations and engaging activities such as peer communication. These innovative techniques contributed immensely to the success of the course.
Dr. Kimberly Schreiber and Mr. David Adams are prominent figures in the field of law with specialisation and thorough experience in mediation and negotiation. Dr. Kimberly is a Tennessee Supreme Court-listed mediator and an approved trainer in Civil/General and Family Mediation. She has been training mediators across the globe for several years. She has also been a finalist judge for the International Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Mediation competition. Mr. David Adams has exemplary experience in the field of ADR and his area of expertise lies in Civil/General and Family Mediation.
The participating students greatly benefitted from the valuable insights that were provided by both the luminaries during the credit course.
