Representation to the Ministry of Law and Justice :
The Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell, being an advocate for the knowledge of the alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, has acted as a pioneer in this field by filing a Representation with the Ministry of Law and Justice.
There were mainly four concerns that were raised under this issue :
(a) Discrepancies between the Rules of Public and Private Mediation centres;
(b) Improper referral of matrimonial and property disputes to mandatory mediation;
(c) An undefined scope for the nature of disputes that can be mediated;
(d) Multiple instances of judicial saying in this regard.
In furtherance of this, the ADRC has also put forth recommendations that we believe would allow for a much-needed advancement in the field of Mediation.

Treasure Hunt :
With the collective intent of enriching the mediation skills of the junior batches and giving them a glimpse of NLIU’s past, NLIU ADRC hosted a Mediation Treasure Hunt for the 1st and 2nd year students on the 15th and 16th of March, 2022. The students were asked to seek out the confidential information of their mediation problem in different spots of the college .
While the hunt challenge the physical faculties of the participants , the Mediation problem titled ‘The Odyssey’ , drew a bold parallel between NLIU and Greek civilisation. The problem went on to explore a grand tale of friendship and rivalry set in NLIU that served as the general information for all participants, while each clever clue brought our teams one piece of the confidential information. The problem illustrated a law school journey with all that it has to offer, friends, cells, and the career it all culminates in.
The hunt took our freshers to diverse locations, from the academic block that they visit everyday, to the sports complex that took them to the roads less traveled by. In every turn, the teams uncovered a piece of not just their confidential information, but also of the legacy they are the newest additions to. Clues ranging from temples and shiva, to blindfolds and swords, the hunt was an enriching and challenging .
