History of the Tournament
In 2012, ADRC entered into a pioneering collaboration with the InterNational Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR) to organise Asia’s first and India’s largest Mediation Tournament- the “NLIU INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament”.
With each successive year, we have witnessed participation from all National Law Schools and premier private law schools of the country besides Universities from the United States, Australia, and parts of Europe. During this period, NLIU hosts the who’s who of the mediation circuit around the world, from various international experts on mediation to participants from across the globe to the best mediators and negotiators in the country. Unique in every sense, the tournament follows the INADR format, wherein every team (comprising 3 members) has to do 3 rounds, with each member playing the role of client, counsel, and mediator at least once.
With the experience of organizing 11 successful editions of our prestigious mediation tournament, ADRC strives to improve consistently and provide our participants with a unique experience at our serene campus to come together and experience the ever-evolving world of alternate dispute resolution. The competition aims to provide an opportunity for students to be a part of disputes akin to actual altercations witnessed by legal professionals. It further presents an opportunity to hone the requisite communication and mediation skills in addition to holding discussions with equally enthusiastic professionals and students in the field. The nuanced feedback offered by our judges with years of experience allows the participants to assess and enhance their performance. The judges, who are highly revered professionals, also bring in diverse opinions owing to their international cohort.
